3434On December 23, QALAMPIR.UZ highlighted the dire condition of secondary school No. 10 in the Katta Rovot neighborhood of the Buka district, Tashkent region, deeming it unfit for winter education. The Tashkent Regional Department of Preschool and School Education responded today, December 24, stating that the school will undergo repairs.
A working group comprising representatives from the regional government, the regional Department of Preschool and School Education, the Buka district government, and the district's preschool and school education department has been established to address the issues raised in the report.
The school operates in two buildings:
- Main Building: Allocated in 2019, it was previously a college. It currently accommodates 248 students from grades 5 to 11 across 13 classrooms.
- Old Building: Built in 1988, this facility is used for primary education, hosting 153 students from grades 1 to 4 in 8 classrooms.
The district administration has already provided some assistance by sealing floors and windows in the main building. Students will be released for the winter holidays while further renovations are carried out. Officials stated that the coal quality, criticized in the report, is not as poor as depicted.
Looking ahead, the old building is slated for major repairs funded by the local budget in the next academic year. Updates on these efforts will be shared as work progresses.
Despite these announcements, the school administration revealed that similar repair promises have been made repeatedly in the past without fulfillment. QALAMPIR.UZ will continue monitoring the situation to ensure accountability.
