Earlier, Bahodir Gulomov, the prosecutor of Kogon district in the Bukhara region, was apprehended for bribery. Today, February 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev shared some insights into the prosecutor's arrest during a meeting in Khonobod city concerning the primary objectives of socio-economic development in the Andijan region.

"The prosecutor of Kogon district was caught with $100,000. Why do I mention this? Such actions reflect on the prosecutor's integrity. If he is meant to be a defender but his associate turns out to be a thief, whom can we turn to with our grievances?" stated the President.

Mirziyoyev mentioned he became aware of the situation three days prior.

"Keep silent until the end. I instructed that he shouldn't return from court tomorrow. Initially, he mentioned $200,000 bit by bit. He brought $91,000 and promised the rest. But I insisted he shouldn't remain silent. When he brought $91,000 on the third day, he was told to bring $101,000," explained Mirziyoyev.

The President noted that $10,000 was taken by intermediaries, yet the prosecutor was unwilling to forfeit even $10,000. In light of these developments, Mirziyoyev directed the Prosecutor General to personally travel to Bukhara and dismiss Bahodir Gulomov, the prosecutor of Kogon district.

For context, Bahodir Gulomov was appointed as the Kogon district prosecutor in April 2022, having previously served as a department head at the Bukhara Regional Prosecutor's Office.
