6350Earlier we reported that the President of Uzbekistan issued a decree «On measures to increase soil fertility and productivity in cotton fields, and to support the introduction of new irrigation technologies».
According to the decree, in 2022-2023, the following measures will be introduced on an experimental basis, at the expense of the State budget, to increase the fertility of cotton soils by agricultural land users (tenants):
- granting of tax incentives for the implementation of measures to increase soil fertility and protection against erosion;
- allocating subsidies and partial exemption from land tax for the restoration, reuse, and redevelopment of agricultural land, melioration and reclamation of agricultural land in accordance with approved land management documents.
- tax incentives for increasing soil fertility and productivity in cotton fields are applied to land users who increase soil fertility through soil sorting analysis.
The document confirmed the following:
- A list of districts where the practice of allocating subsidies for improving soil fertility and the ecological condition of cotton fields in 2022-2023 will be tested.
- A “road map” for scientifically based measures to improve soil fertility and productivity in cotton fields and to shift to new irrigation technologies.
