Almost 60% of HEI graduates are still unemployed

It has been reported that 126,000 (59 percent) of 214,000 graduates from higher education institutions remain unemployed. This announcement was made by Behzod Musaev, the Minister of Poverty Alleviation and Employment, during a regular session of the Legislative Chamber on August 6.

The complete list of 214,000 graduates from the last academic year was obtained from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation and compared with the employment database. Of these, 88,000 graduates (41 percent) have been employed by enterprises and organizations under contract.

"Currently, 126,000 graduates (59 percent) have not yet found employment. We analyzed the feasibility of matching unemployed graduates with available job vacancies based on their field of study. We found that 95,000 graduates could be employed out of 102,000 vacancies. We are working to place each graduate into a job during August and September, depending on their location and whether they are seeking employment in the capital," said Musaev.

Behzod Musaev also noted that there are currently 358,000 registered vacancies in the country, with 112,000 requiring higher education.

Of the total vacancies: 81,000 are in state bodies, and 277,000 are in the private sector The distribution of vacancies across sectors is as follows:

  • Service: 96,000
  • Education: 56,000
  • Industry and production: 57,000
  • Agriculture: 48,000
  • Construction: 32,000
  • Health care: 26,000
  • Finance and insurance: 5,000
  • Communication and information technologies: 7,000
  • Culture: 4,000

Additional measures will be implemented in the second half of the year to enhance employment opportunities, focusing on agriculture, construction, tourism, and services.
