A senior consultant of the Supreme Court was apprehended with accepting bribe

Some employees working in the judicial system of Uzbekistan were caught accepting bribes, as reported by the State Security Service.

It is reported that the senior consultant of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, specializing in criminal cases, was arrested while receiving $10,000 from a citizen. It was revealed that he promised to assist in the acquittal of two previously convicted individuals by transferring the criminal case under the cassation procedure to the Fergana regional court.

In another case, the senior assistant judge of the Judicial Committee on Economic Affairs of the Surkhandarya Regional Court gained the trust of a local businessman and received $6,000 in exchange for a positive resolution of his claims at the appeal stage through the judges.

He was apprehended by officers of the Department of Surkhandarya Region.

During the swift investigation, it was also discovered that the senior assistant judge demanded $2,000 and received $600 in return for a positive settlement of the claim submitted by the former businessman to the Termiz inter-district economic court.

"Criminal cases have been initiated against these individuals under Articles 168 and 28,211 of the Criminal Code, and preventive measures in the form of imprisonment have been applied," the report says.
