A new resort with the capacity to host at least 600 tourists will be built near the Ahangaran reservoir in the Tashkent region. Regional governor Zoir Mirzaev announced this in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel on September 11.
On the same day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting on reforms and development plans for the Tashkent region, where the resort project was also discussed.
According to Mirzaev, 168 hectares of land have been allocated around the Ahangaran reservoir, and a project will be implemented in cooperation with a Turkish company. The project is expected to create 700 jobs.
“A hotel, capsule houses, and chalets will be built here. The new facility will accommodate at least 600 tourists. Most importantly, we are creating an ecozone in the area. There are also proposals to apply this experience in Parkent and Bostanlyk,” the governor said.
For reference, the Ahangaran reservoir is located on the eastern outskirts of the city of Angren, above the coal mine. Built in 1989 to regulate the Ahangaran River, the reservoir supplies water for irrigation in the Ahangaran, Orta Chirchik, Piskent, and Buka districts. Its total capacity is 260 million cubic meters, with a water level of about 1,080 meters when filled.
It should be noted that last month, plans were announced to build an ecotourism complex on the territory of the “South Surkhan” reservoir in the Kumkurgan district of the Surkhandarya region. The 15.7-hectare complex will cost 140 billion soums.
Earlier, Azerbaijani singer and businessman Emin Agalarov also presented President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with a project for the “Sea Breeze Uzbekistan” international tourism center on the banks of the Charvak reservoir. Following this, the government approved a resolution to lease 577 hectares of land in the Bostanlyk district to Sea Breeze Uzbekistan LLC with the participation of Agalarov Development LLC (Azerbaijan) for 25 years. A multi-seasonal resort complex worth $5 billion is expected to be built there between 2025 and 2035.
