The press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Hayat Shamsutdinov, reported on the death of a person following an incident involving an advertising banner in Namangan.

According to Shamsutdinov, the victim, a man born in 1997, was hit by a falling advertising banner which came loose from its foundations.  The man was crushed  and consequently died from his injuries.

Citizens at the scene rushed to help and the injured man was taken to hospital.  According to reports, an investigation is being carried out in connection with this situation.

It is worth noting that climate scientist Erkin Abdulahatov who is an expert in hydrometeorological scientific analysis, reported that the meteorological station at Namangan International Airport which is close to the area where the banner collapsed, recorded windspeeds of between 10 m/s and 19 m/s. “This wind force would have the power to topple even the most precariously placed billboards.  More accurate information on the maximum speed of the wind will be provided,” the report said.
