Father was sentenced to 10 years for strangling daughter in Namangan

14762In the Torakorgan district of Namangan region, a father has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for strangling his daughter to death after she refused to marry the man she was engaged to. QALAMPIR.UZ reviewed the court’s verdict.
The tragic incident occurred on June 12 this year in the Isvakhan neighborhood. At approximately 7:00 a.m., a 50-year-old man strangled his 20-year-old daughter, D.U., first using a scarf and then his hands, in the living room of their home.
After the crime, the father moved his daughter’s body to the basement, reportedly to prevent his wife from being shocked upon finding her daughter dead when she returned from work.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the father called his neighbor and confessed to the crime. The neighbor advised him to report the incident to the authorities. Following this advice, the man went to the district Ministry of Internal Affairs in the neighbor’s car and later to the district prosecutor's office, where he pleaded guilty.
In his statement to the jury, the father expressed deep remorse, claiming that he loved his daughter and had always cared for her. He revealed that she had been engaged three times, but he deeply regretted his actions and sought forgiveness, acknowledging his inability to forgive himself.
The court found the father, identified as M.E., guilty under Part 1 of Article 97 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Deliberate Murder). He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Earlier, in Tashkent, a man who brutally murdered a woman with an axe was sentenced to 23 years in prison. According to reports, the man first struck the woman with an axe and then strangled her using clothing.
