A 19-year-old driver who caused the death of three people while driving under the influence in Uychi district, Namangan region, has been sentenced to six years in prison, Mening Yurtim reports.

The accident occurred on October 29, 2024. The young man had been drinking alcohol at a nightclub with friends before getting behind the wheel of a Captiva—a car that did not belong to him. Despite not having a driver’s license, he drove at a speed of 100 km/h along the Uchkurgan-Uychi-Namangan road. His reckless driving led to a collision with a Cobalt, killing all three people inside on the spot.

During a hearing at the Uychi District Criminal Court, the defendant was found guilty under Article 266, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules resulting in fatalities). He was sentenced to six years in a penal colony and banned from driving for three years after his release.

We would like to remind you that earlier, on January 21, a traffic accident involving three cars occurred on Buyuk Ipak Yuli Street in Tashkent’s Mirzo Ulugbek district, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.
