The leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan participated in a ceremony marking the arrival of the first freight train on the "Xi'an - Khorgos - Almaty - Saryagash - Tashkent" route, as reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

After bilateral negotiations, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan jointly inaugurated the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers in Almaty and the South Kazakhstan State Institute named after M. Auezov in Chirchik.

The opening of these university branches is a testament to the rapidly developing multifaceted relations between the two countries. These institutions will focus on training highly qualified personnel in technical fields that are in high demand.

Additionally, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan participated in the ceremony celebrating the arrival of the first freight train on the "Xi'an - Khorgos - Almaty - Saryagash - Tashkent" route. The train departed from the Kazakhstan-China terminal in Xi'an and traveled to the land port of Khorgos, where the containers were reloaded and sent to their final destination at the Tashkent station via the Saryagash station along Kazakhstan's railways.

This new route shortens shipping times and is expected to significantly boost trade volumes.

It is worth noting that earlier, as part of the state visit to Kazakhstan, a ceremony was held in Astana to award President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Order of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Golden Kiran" ("Golden Eagle").
