A new park is being built on “Temiryo’lchilar” (railway workers) street in the Mirabad district of Tashkent.  Heydar Aliyev’s bas-relief will be installed there.  The total area of the park is 0.51 hectares.

It is known that the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev paid a state visit to Uzbekistan on 21 June.  This is the first visit by Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan in the last 12 years.  During the visit of the president of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan on 27-28 September 2010, the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre was opened in Tashkent.

On 15 October 2019, president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the 7th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States and met with President Ilham Aliyev.  During the meeting, Mirziyoyev invited Aliyev to Uzbekistan.

During the meeting of the leaders of the two countries, warm and friendly relations between Sharof Rashidov and Heydar Aliyev were remembered.

“We are always proud of Heydar Aliyev, the great son of the Azerbaijani people.  He is highly respected in Uzbekistan.  I have spoken to many people who worked with him.  He always treated the Uzbek people with respect.  Heydar Aliyev met with Sharof Rashidovich many times and resolved many difficult issues together.

People living among us today say that Heydar Aliyev treated Uzbekistan in every situation with respect and support.  During the difficult years of the “Uzbek affair”, Heydar Aliyev, unlike others, had his own opinion about the Uzbek people, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Heydar Aliyev was born in 1923 in the city of Nakhichevan in Azerbaijan.  From 1993 to 2003 he served as president of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  Under his leadership, Azerbaijan, a former Soviet colony, achieved a number of achievements in the political, economic, scientific, cultural, art and sports spheres.  He died on 12 December 2003.  Ilham Aliyev, son of Heydar Aliyev, became president of the country, and Heydar Aliyev was recognized as the national leader of the country.

Central streets, parks, airports, and educational institutions were called the name of Heydar Aliyev.  Art palaces in the name of Heydar Aliyev were established in the city centers. Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centers have been opened in all districts, including a number of countries with which diplomatic relations have been established.
