The Presidential Press Service reported that on April 7, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with a delegation led by Chan Thanh Man, Chairperson of the Vietnamese National Assembly, who is on an official visit to the country.

At the beginning of the meeting, the delegation leader conveyed greetings from the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Uzbek leader.

"The multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and Vietnam, particularly in trade, economy, and investment, were thoroughly discussed," the statement read.

It was noted that systematic intergovernmental and interagency dialogues are essential. The importance of effectively organizing the Intergovernmental Commission meeting and business forum in Hanoi this year was emphasized.

Both sides agreed to prepare a comprehensive program for industrial cooperation to advance new projects in energy, geology, petrochemicals, electrical engineering, textiles, agriculture, and other sectors. Special attention was given to developing cultural and tourism exchanges, including the introduction of visa-free arrangements.

"To ensure the practical implementation of joint initiatives, the activation of inter-parliamentary dialogue was agreed upon," the statement added.

It is worth noting that earlier, President Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Inter-Parliamentary Union, including Chairperson Tulia Ackson and Secretary-General Martin Chungong, awarding Martin Chungong the "Friendship" Order for his contributions to parliamentary diplomacy.
