Mirziyoyev expresses his condolences to Tokayev

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has conveyed his condolences to his Kazakh counterpart, Kasim-Jumart Tokayev. This was announced by the press secretary of the President, Sherzod Asadov.


"The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has sent his condolences to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jumart Tokayev, in connection with the loss of lives and injuries resulting from the explosion in the Kostenko mine in the Karaganda region," stated the President's press secretary.


President Mirziyoyev also expressed hope that the miners who remain trapped inside the mine will be rescued soon.


For your information, there were 252 people in the Kostenko mine at the time of the incident. 208 people were successfully brought to the surface, with 18 of them seeking medical assistance. According to the latest information from the Ministry of Emergencies of Kazakhstan, the bodies of 32 deceased individuals have been recovered, and the search for 14 miners is ongoing.


President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, have also extended their condolences to President Tokayev.


We would like to remind you that an explosion occurred at a coal mine in Kazakhstan in the morning of October 28. The country's Prosecutor General's Office has initiated an investigation into the violation of safety rules during mining or construction work (Part 3 of Article 277 of the Criminal Code). President Kasim-Jumart Tokayev has ordered the suspension of investment cooperation with "ArcelorMittal Temirtau" following the mine explosion. The head of state has declared October 29 as a day of national mourning in memory of the victims of the incident.
