Mirziyoyev expresses condolences on the death of the Pope

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has extended his condolences to the Camerlengo of the Roman Catholic Church, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, following the death of Pope Francis. This was announced by Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov.

“In his letter, the Head of our state noted that His Holiness made a worthy contribution to the development of relations between Uzbekistan and the Vatican, to the strengthening of interfaith dialogue and friendship, to supporting people in need around the world, and to the broad promotion of noble values,” Asadov stated.

President Mirziyoyev also expressed his deep sympathy and condolences to the people of the Vatican and Catholics around the world.

It should be recalled that Pope Francis passed away today, April 21, at the age of 88, at his residence in the Vatican. He had been serving as the head of the Roman Catholic Church since March 13, 2013.
