Today, 8 September, the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union - Chairman of this prestigious structure Duarte Pacheco and Secretary General Martin Chungong.

The Head of State noted with great satisfaction that fruitful cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union is developing rapidly.

These days, the 14th Summit of Women Leaders of Parliaments of the World’s Countries is successfully held in Tashkent. Its agenda includes the development of effective institutions to support democratic and socio-economic reforms, and important global and regional issues related to the implementation of gender policy.

In addition, a number of important projects have been implemented with this prestigious international organization, and a parliamentary forum on the Sustainable Development Goals and other activities have been held in Bukhara.

High-level representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union expressed appreciation to the leader of Uzbekistan for his comprehensive support in promoting joint initiatives and fully supported the program of renewal and reform in New Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the further expansion of mutually beneficial relations in such areas as sustainable development, promotion of democratic values, achievement of goals and objectives in the sphere of youth support, and cooperation with the Innovation Center of the Union.

Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the National Council of Turkmenistan Gulsat Mammadova, and the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federation of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova.
