Today, 8 February, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev became acquainted with the construction works in the Tashkent metro. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
In August 2020, the first stage of the Tashkent underground metro was launched. In December of the same year, the Sergeli route was also opened.
These works are being continued consistently, and the metro line connecting these two directions from Koylyk to Sergeli is being built. There will be 7 stops in this section of about 12 kilometers. So far, 5 stations of the metro, which reach the Builders' Hall, have been completed.
"We have gained experience in this regard in recent years. 7 underground metros were built in the direction of Kolyk and 5 in Sergeli. Earlier, 240,000 passengers used the Tashkent metro, but today it exceeds 600,000. Our aim is 1 million passengers. If we didn't start it on time, there could be a collapse in the city transport. Now we can't even study alternative energy," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The president walked in the subway together with members of the public.
