Yesterday, on October 1, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with leaders of Qatar's leading companies during the first day of his trip to Qatar. This was reported by the President's press service.

Among the businessmen who attended the president's reception was Muhammad al-Hajri, the Chairman of the Board of Nebras Power, Qatar's leading energy corporation. At the meeting, they discussed the practical aspects of developing mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in the field of alternative energy and the ongoing construction project of a modern power plant with a capacity of 1.6 GW in the Sirdarya region, in collaboration with the Qatari company using steam-gas technologies.

Preparatory work for the construction of a thermal power plant in the Surkhandarya region is also nearing completion as part of the project. Additionally, they discussed joint plans for the creation of 600 MW energy storage systems in the Tashkent region and the commissioning of a 1 GW wind power plant in Karakalpakstan. An agreement was reached to adopt a long-term partnership program, focusing on promising projects related to "green" energy.

President Mirziyoyev also hosted Mutaz al-Hayat, the Chairman of the Board of Power International Holding Company, at the allocated residence. Cooperation with this company includes the construction of a modern livestock cluster in the Jizzakh region, which is poised to become the largest agro-industrial complex in the region. Other promising projects discussed include the construction of a high-speed highway in Uzbekistan, the expansion of ammonia and urea production, and the development of business, hotel infrastructure, and healthcare facilities.

The Qatari side announced plans to open an office in Uzbekistan soon. For reference, Power International is the largest national holding company in Qatar, actively operating in 19 countries worldwide across various sectors including energy, petrochemicals, industry, agriculture, transport infrastructure, healthcare, and tourism. It stands as one of the leading multinational companies in the Middle East.

During his visit to Qatar's first day, Mirziyoyev also met with the Executive Director of "Al Mirqab Capital" holding company, Saif ur-Rahman Khan. Founded in 1983, Al Mirqab Capital Holding owns 20 major hotels in the USA, Europe, and the Middle East under brands like Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton, with assets worth more than 8 billion dollars. The discussions focused on prospects for cooperation in hotel infrastructure and tourism services, as well as modernizing the logistics and energy sector. Specific plans included building a logistics center in the Tashkent region and a hotel-congress complex in Bukhara, along with investments in expanding electricity production capacities in Uzbekistan. Investment projects will be implemented based on a joint "roadmap."

As part of the state visit's business program in Qatar, President Mirziyoyev also met with the Director of the Qatar Investment Agency, Bandar bin Saud Al Soni. This agency is a leading global investment holding firm with extensive experience in large-scale projects across industries like industry, infrastructure, energy, real estate, and electronic technologies. The agency's direct investments in "green" energy facilities, including solar and wind farms, modernizing transport infrastructure, and other investment projects were thoroughly discussed. They also expressed interest in developing advanced banking and financial services, including Islamic finance programs. It was agreed to hold a bilateral group meeting in the near future to implement these joint projects.

A reminder that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Doha on October 1 for a state visit at the invitation of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Soni. High-level meetings are scheduled for today, October 2, as per the state visit's program.
