Mirziyoyev visits Iranian Embassy to extend his condolences

On May 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan visited the Iranian embassy to extend his heartfelt condolences to the people of Iran following the tragic death of President Ibrahim Raisi and his entourage in a helicopter crash in northern Iran. This information was released by the President's press service.

"The President inscribed sincere words of condolence and comfort in the book of sympathy at the embassy," the statement noted.

During a brief discussion with Ambassador Muhammadali Iskandari, President Mirziyoyev highlighted President Ibrahim Raisi's role as a seasoned statesman and politician who significantly contributed to Iran's socio-economic stability, the well-being of its population, and the enhancement of its international standing, along with fostering mutually beneficial multilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Iran.

It is also noted that on May 20, President Mirziyoyev sent a letter of condolence to Iran's Supreme Religious Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
