Mirziyoyev Holds Negotiations with Halima Yaqub

6720Today, on the 24th of May, negotiations took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Singapore Halima Yaqub at the "Koksaroy" residence.
During the opening of the meeting, the president of Singapore expressed sincere gratitude to Mirziyoyev for extending the invitation to visit Uzbekistan on a state visit, as well as for the warm reception accorded to the Singaporean delegation. Additionally, he conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming presidential election in Uzbekistan, hoping for its resounding success.
Both leaders acknowledged the significance of this high-level visit, being the first of its kind in 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. They expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of all the important cooperation agreements that were previously reached during President Mirziyoyev's historic visit to Singapore in January of this year.
During the negotiations, significant attention was devoted to the issues of strengthening political dialogue and inter-parliamentary relations, as well as mutual support within international organizations. The implementation of programs aimed at personnel training in the fields of public administration, public safety, and cultural-humanitarian exchange was also discussed.
The considerable progress made in the areas of trade, economy, and investment was emphasized. Mutual trade indicators have witnessed a substantial increase since the beginning of this year, positioning Singapore as one of the largest investors in Uzbekistan. At present, several projects totaling $3.8 billion in sectors such as chemicals, textiles, transportation, logistics, urban planning, education services, and privatization are entering an active phase, in collaboration with leading Singaporean companies.
The prospects for expanding economic cooperation were thoroughly discussed, expressing confidence that the Uzbekistan-Singapore business forum, held as part of the visit's business program, will serve as a catalyst for expanding investment partnerships among leading companies in the fields of trade, logistics, innovation, energy, and healthcare.
The discussion encompassed the important topics of ensuring food safety and facilitating the delivery of food products to the Singaporean market. Both parties expressed their strong determination to enhance cooperation in implementing humanitarian projects.
Furthermore, the significance of incorporating Singapore's expertise in public administration and training management personnel was underscored, particularly through the joint education center established based on the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The support for the activities of Singaporean higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, as well as the promotion of regular cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges between the two countries, was reaffirmed.
The heads of state also exchanged views on current regional integration matters in Central and Southeast Asia. They acknowledged the high level of mutual understanding and support within the international arena, particularly within the United Nations, and during Uzbekistan's process of joining the World Trade Organization.
