3 people died in gas explosion at mosque in Andijan

Earlier, it was reported that a gas explosion occurred at a mosque in the Izboskan district of Andijan region, resulting in three fatalities. This was confirmed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.  

According to official information, on March 31 at 12:19, the Andijan Regional Emergency Management Agency received a report of a gas-air mixture explosion at a mosque on Yangibozor Street, Mirzo Ulugbek MFY, Izboskan district.  

Emergency response teams, including two rescue units and two fire crews, immediately arrived at the scene. The explosion caused significant damage to the mosque’s walls and roof, though no fire was reported.  

Authorities confirmed that three citizens lost their lives, while 10 others sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.  

"The regional governor, the Federal Border Guard Service, the Internal Affairs Directorate, the State Fire Service, the prosecutor's office, and specialists from 'Regional Gas Supply' and the district emergency services have arrived at the site. Measures are being taken to mitigate the consequences of the explosion," the statement reads.  

It was further noted that Deputy Prime Minister Ochilboy Ramatov, who was in the region at the time of the incident, and Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Botir Kudratkhodjaev, also arrived in Izboskan to oversee the response efforts.  

A preliminary investigation into the incident is currently underway.  

It should be recalled that on March 12, a gas-air mixture ignited in a multi-story residential building in Kokand, Fergana region, causing a fire. Similarly, on March 27, an explosion occurred in a five-story apartment building in the Tashkent district of the Tashkent region due to accumulated natural gas on the second floor.
