Central Asian leaders adopt regional security concept

On 16 November, the leaders of Central Asian states adopted a joint statement following the Seventh Consultative Meeting. The information was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

In addition, the Presidents signed several important documents:

  •  An appeal to UN member states regarding the Kyrgyz Republic’s candidacy for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for 2027–2028;
  •  A decision on granting the Republic of Azerbaijan full membership in the Consultative Meetings of the leaders of Central Asian states;
  •  The Concept for Regional Security and Stability in Central Asia;
  •  A Catalogue of Threats to Central Asia’s Security and measures for their prevention for 2026–2028.

Earlier, it was reported that, at the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Tashkent on a working visit to participate as an honorary guest in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the leaders of Central Asian states and held talks with the President of Uzbekistan.

The Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, and Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, also arrived in Tashkent to take part in the meeting and held discussions with Shavkat Mirziyoyev. They visited the Center of Islamic Civilisation in Tashkent and attended the award ceremony for the winners of the international prize “Heritage of the Future.”

Furthermore, at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, arrived in Tashkent today, 16 November, on a state visit.

At the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the leaders of Central Asian states, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward a number of initiatives.
