President proposes dismissal of Central Bank Chairman Mamarizo Nurmurodov

6113The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has submitted a proposal to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis to dismiss Mamarizo Nurmurodov from his position as Chairman of the Central Bank. This development was announced by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov. The reason for Nurmurodov’s potential dismissal has not been disclosed.
Mamarizo Nurmurodov has served as the Chairman of the Central Bank since 2017. He has had a long and distinguished career in the fields of economics, finance, and academia.
Born in 1960 in the Samarkand region, Nurmurodov pursued higher education in economics. In 1977, he enrolled at the Tashkent Institute of National Economy, and in 1982, he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Economics and Finance. From 1982 to 1985, he worked as a lecturer at the Tashkent Institute of National Economy. He continued his academic pursuits, earning a candidate of economic sciences degree from the Moscow Finance Institute in 1988.

- 1989-1993: Associate professor at the Tashkent Institute of National Economy and the Tashkent Financial Institute.
- 1993-2000: Held several positions at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, including Director of the Scientific Research Center, Deputy Chairman of the Board, and First Deputy Chairman.
