11091Uzbekistan’s Central Bank has issued a warning about fake profiles and fraud attempts. This information was shared in an official statement by the Central Bank.
According to the report, fraudsters are using Telegram messenger profiles featuring the Central Bank’s emblem to build trust among citizens. These fake profiles send images of counterfeit certificates and documents, tricking people into sharing personal and banking information. Victims are often deceived into providing sensitive details such as one-time passwords (OTP) or even installing malicious apps on their phones, which leads to the theft of funds from their bank accounts.
In response to these cases, the Central Bank recommends avoiding communication with such fake profiles, refraining from clicking on suspicious links, not installing potentially harmful (APK) applications on phones, and blocking these users immediately.
The Central Bank has clarified that these fake profiles and messages have no connection with the legitimate activities of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
As a reminder, the Central Bank had previously issued a warning about fraudulent schemes where funds were automatically withdrawn from bank accounts after answering calls from unknown phone numbers.
