The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has fined 23 financial institutions, the regulator’s press service reported.
According to the statement, a number of issues related to the activities of financial institutions were reviewed during meetings of the Central Bank’s Banking Supervision Committee held in June 2026. A total of 34 issues were discussed across seven meetings, with relevant decisions adopted on each matter.
The meetings focused on the registration and licensing of credit institutions, supervision of banking activities, and financial stability issues. In particular, 22 items concerned granting permission for the operation and registration of credit institutions.
The committee also reviewed issues related to auditor qualification certificates granting the right to conduct audits at banks, registration of microfinance organizations, issuance of licenses to payment organizations, approvals for ownership stakes in the authorized capital of credit institutions, and the consideration of candidates for management positions at commercial banks.
According to the Central Bank, 12 issues related to the financial condition of credit and payment organizations were also examined. The review covered compliance with prudential requirements, the results of inspections, and the financial indicators of organizations. Following the supervision process, 23 banks were warned that measures and sanctions would be applied for violating prudential requirements and failing to fully align their operations with legal regulations.
In addition, due to identified shortcomings and non-compliance with legal requirements, fines were imposed on 21 banks, one microfinance organization, and one payment organization. The Central Bank stated that these measures aim to ensure stability in the financial system, strengthen compliance with regulations, and improve financial discipline among institutions.
It is worth noting that earlier, Anorbank was fined following an advertisement posted on Instagram.
