"Our two-week training in Nancy has concluded. The boxers are well-prepared for their matches. I have been coaching this team for five years, and I have never seen the athletes in better shape than they are now. The adaptation process is progressing well. We are ready for the Olympics. There will be no easy opponents, but if we are fortunate, we will win the most gold medals in boxing and secure first place in the overall team standings," said the coach.
Farrukh Qilichev also mentioned a chance meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron during lunch in Paris and shared their conversation.
"When I met him, the first thing I suggested was taking a picture. Macron asked where I was from. When I replied that I was from Uzbekistan, he told me he had recently returned from Samarkand. After taking the picture, I thanked him in French, and he wished us luck in the Olympics," recounted Farrukh Qilichev.
For reference, the boxing matches at the Paris Olympics will commence on July 27. The men's national team of Uzbekistan will compete for medals in full.
Additionally, it is worth noting that a renowned American publication recently predicted the number of medals the Uzbekistan delegation would win at the Olympics.
