Administrative courts overturn over 2,500 decisions in a year

2090In 2024, administrative courts in Uzbekistan overturned decisions issued by first-instance courts against 2,581 individuals and amended court rulings against 2,945 persons, according to statistics published by the Supreme Court.
Criminal courts handled 613,142 administrative offense cases involving 740,994 individuals. As a result, administrative penalties were imposed on 469,568 people, while 94,886 individuals were released from liability due to reconciliation.
The most common administrative offenses included petty hooliganism, unlicensed passenger transportation, failure to comply with police requirements, insults, violations related to electricity and gas usage, traffic rule violations causing minor injuries or material damage, improper trade practices, public alcohol consumption, drunk driving, and carrying cold weapons.
In the appeal process, 8,297 administrative offense cases involving 9,899 individuals were reviewed, leading to the cancellation of 2,581 first-instance court decisions and amendments to rulings for 2,945 individuals.
In cassation proceedings, 6,657 administrative cases involving 7,124 individuals were reviewed. As a result, 2,644 first-instance court decisions were canceled, and rulings for 1,863 individuals were amended.
Additionally, the Criminal Judicial Board of the Supreme Court reviewed 1,769 administrative cases against 1,919 individuals. Among them, lower court decisions against 359 individuals were overturned, while rulings for 464 individuals were modified.
Earlier, the Supreme Court also reported that economic courts in Uzbekistan canceled 390 decisions and amended 253 rulings in 2024. Economic courts handled 436,102 cases in the first instance and issued rulings to recover 27.5 trillion sums in favor of plaintiffs.
