On June 17, Timur Rahmonov, the newly appointed ambassador of Uzbekistan to Latvia, presented his credentials to Latvia's president, Edgars Rinkevichs. This event was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.

During the official ceremony, the discussion focused on the current state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia and the prospects for its further development.

President Rinkevichs expressed high regard for the political dialogue between Riga and Tashkent, as well as the state of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. He highlighted that by the end of 2023, Uzbekistan is expected to become one of Latvia's largest trade and economic partners.

Timur Rahmonov arrived in Riga on March 13 to assume his role as the new ambassador of Uzbekistan. He succeeded Kadambai Sultonov, who served as the head of Uzbekistan's diplomatic mission in Latvia from 2019 to 2024, and concurrently as ambassador-at-large to Lithuania (2021–2024), Estonia (2020–2024), and Finland (2020–2024).
