Farmer sentenced to 2 years in prison for illegal tree cutting in Khorezm

The head of a farm in the Khorezm region has been handed a 2-year prison sentence for the illegal cutting down of trees, according to a report from the Press Service of the Ministry of Ecology.

The incident involved the uprooting of 83 bushes of various tree species, with an additional 3 bushes left damaged beyond recovery in the farm area of Koshkopir district in Khorezm.

The case was brought before the Koshkopir District Court, which specializes in criminal cases. Following a thorough examination, the court delivered its verdict, imposing a 2-year imprisonment on the farm's head, identified as B.A. The sentence was issued under the provisions of part 3 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code.

In addition to the prison term, the court also ordered the defendant to pay compensation for the damage caused to the local flora. The determined amount for the restitution is 193.8 million soums.

This ruling sends a strong message about the importance of preserving and protecting the environment, particularly the valuable trees and vegetation in the Khorezm region. It serves as a reminder that any actions that harm or destroy natural resources will be met with severe consequences.
