A criminal case has been initiated against Merey Omonbayeva

A criminal case has been initiated against Merey Omonbayeva, the head of the Navoi Region Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This information was provided by the press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office to QALAMPIR.UZ.

It is alleged that Omonbayeva is suspected of fraud. It is reported that she received a significant sum of money from a construction businessman, promising to facilitate the purchase of land through the mayor of Navoi.

"In connection with this matter, a criminal case has been initiated under Articles 168 (fraud) and 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. Presently, investigative efforts are being conducted by the prosecutor's office of the Navoi region," the report states.

For background, Merey Omonbayeva was born in 1997 in the Nurota district of Navoi region and holds a high level of education. In 2020, she was honored with the state award named after Zulfiya. Omonbayeva assumed the position of head of the Navoi Region Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on March 6, 2024. Prior to this role, she served as an assistant to the mayor of the "Zarafshon" neighborhood in the city of Navoi.

In August 2021, during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to the Navoi region, Merey Omonbayeva expressed gratitude, stating that he was "touched" by the President's visit. A car was presented to him as a gift from the President.
