The trial of the defendants of the Nukus incident, who live in Kazakhstan and Norway, continues

The trial of A. Sagidullayev and N. Urazbayev in connection with the events of Nukus continue without their participation. The statements of 7 witnesses were heard at the court session held today, April 3. The spokesman of the Supreme Court, Aziz Obidov, informed this.

The criminal case against A. Sagidullayev, who is accused of having committed the crimes provided for in articles 28, 104, 158, 159, 244, and 244-1 of the Criminal Code and articles 28, 104, 159, and N. Urazbayev, who is accused of committing the crimes provided for in Articles 244 and 244-1, is being considered in an open trial.

This criminal case is being considered in the court of the first instance under the chairmanship of the judge of the court of the Republic of Karakalpakstan S. Davletmuratov.

A total of 29 persons, 10 of whom were questioned as witnesses at the court hearings held so far. The trial is ongoing.

It should be reminded that based on Article 410 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (participation of the defendant in the trial), the trial of this criminal case was closed due to the fact that the defendants are outside the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and it is not possible to bring them to court. It is being held without the participation of Sagidullayev and N. Urazbayev.

Amanbay Sagidullayev was born in 1967 and currently lives in Norway. He is the leader of the "Go ahead, Karakalpakstan" party. Niyetbai Urazbayev was born in 1969 and is the chairman of the Karakalpak ethnic-cultural association "Allayar Yoli" of the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan. He currently lives in Kazakhstan.
