Gas station in Karakalpakstan stole 2.8 billion sums worth of natural gas

2085A car gas station in the Republic of Karakalpakstan has been implicated in stealing 2.8 billion sums worth of natural gas, according to the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The investigation revealed that during a pre-investigation inspection in the Karaozak district, officials from “Q.M.” LLC and others conspired to manipulate the electronic gas meter at the organization’s car gas compressor station. The group illegally used a total of 1.1 million cubic meters of natural gas, resulting in significant financial damage amounting to 2.8 billion sums to the state and society.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 169 of the Criminal Code (theft), and the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, in the Kibray district of Tashkent, authorities discovered a greenhouse that was illegally using 1.2 billion sums worth of natural gas. The greenhouse owner had illegally connected to the natural gas network without a meter, using a hidden rubber hose.
