Uzbekistan’s World Cup qualification chances rise after victory over Kyrgyzstan  

Following the 7th round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup third qualifying round, Uzbekistan’s national football team now has an 88% chance of securing a spot in the tournament. This was reported by "Football Meets Data".  

According to the source, the likelihood of Japan and Iran qualifying in first and second place is estimated at 100%, while South Korea’s chances stand at 99%. Uzbekistan follows closely with an 88% probability of advancing.  

The 8th round of Group A in the third qualifying stage is set for March 25. In this round:  
- Iran will host Uzbekistan.  
- Kyrgyzstan will face Qatar.  
- North Korea will play against the UAE.  

On March 20, Uzbekistan secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan in a home match, further strengthening its position in the group. Meanwhile, Iran defeated the UAE 2-0.  

With crucial matches ahead, Uzbekistan remains in a strong position to qualify for its first-ever FIFA World Cup.
