3652A drunk driver who struck three pedestrians in Karshi, Kashkadarya region, resulting in the death of one, has been sentenced to two years in prison. This was reported by Zamon.
According to the report, the driver of a Damas, under the influence of alcohol, hit a couple and their child as they were crossing a pedestrian crossing. The man tragically lost his life in the accident.
During the court hearing, the victim’s wife emotionally recounted the harrowing incident:
"I won’t see you for a year. Let’s go for a walk. We were going to buy a house, something else. We were going to have fun. We crossed the first pedestrian crossing safely, but the accident happened at the second one. I heard a crash, a crunch—it all happened before my eyes, but I don’t remember anything. I only saw my husband lying there, and I didn’t see where my son went. I hit the driver when he got out of the car, and then they handed me my son."
Meanwhile, the driver admitted that he was in such a heavy state of intoxication that he did not even remember why he had traveled to Karshi. He pleaded guilty in court and asked for leniency. The victim’s wife, however, requested that he be given a non-custodial sentence, stating that she had no claims against him.
The Karshi City Criminal Court sentenced the driver to two years in prison and imposed a two-year driving ban, prohibiting him from operating any type of vehicle.
It should be recalled that a similar incident occurred earlier in Samarkand, where a Gentra hit two pedestrians standing on the side of the road. The victims sustained injuries and were immediately taken to the hospital.
