Infantino congratulates new coach of Uzbekistan national football team

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has extended his sincere congratulations to Fabio Cannavaro, the newly appointed head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team. This was reported by the Football Association of Uzbekistan.

“Welcome to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, dear Fabio Cannavaro! In 2006, you became a world champion as captain of the Italian national team. Twenty years later, you will now participate in this prestigious tournament in a new role – as head coach of the Uzbekistan national team,” Infantino’s congratulatory message reads.

It is worth noting that the Football Association of Uzbekistan earlier signed a 2+3 contract with Fabio Cannavaro, a three-time World Cup participant, 2006 World Cup winner, and renowned football specialist. The Italian coach will lead the Uzbekistan team in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
