8525The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva are expected to visit Uzbekistan on August 22-23. A source from QALAMPIR.UZ reported this.
According to the source, the visit will focus on developing bilateral relations and joint initiatives between the two countries.
For context, President Ilham Aliyev made a state visit to Uzbekistan on June 21-22, 2022, after an 11-year hiatus. On September 15-16 of the same year, he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand as an honored guest. In November, Ilham Aliyev returned to Uzbekistan with his wife, Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, to participate in the summit of the Organization of Turkic-speaking Countries held in Samarkand.
In August of last year, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and his wife, Ziroatkhan Mirziyoyeva, paid a state visit to Azerbaijan. During this visit, they traveled to Karabakh, where School No. 1, named after Mirzo Ulugbek and built by Uzbekistan, was inaugurated in the city of Fuzuli.
On November 8, President Ilham Aliyev visited Tashkent to participate in the Economic Cooperation Organization summit.
On November 24, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Baku to attend the first summit of the UN Special Program for Central Asian Economies (SPECA). On July 5 of this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev traveled to Azerbaijan for a practical visit to participate in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in Shusha at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev.
