A FIFA delegation led by Gianni Infantino visited Uzbekistan today, September 8. Accompanied by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov, OCA ice-President and NOC first deputy Chairman Otabek Umarov, UFA first Vice-President Ravshan Irmatov, and other officials, the delegation toured the Olympic village in Tashkent and the National football center in Yukori Chirchiq district of Tashkent region, the Uzbekistan Football Association reported.

Spanning over 100 hectares, the Olympic village integrates modern facilities designed for multiple sports disciplines. These multifunctional venues are fully equipped to host international competitions across various sports.

Two years ago, FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited the National football center, laid a symbolic cornerstone for its construction, and reviewed the project plans. During today’s visit, the delegation was briefed on the center’s capabilities. Notably, multiple national teams can train simultaneously at the facility, which offers modern stadiums, training buildings, sports halls, and a hotel for athletes.

’’The sports medicine center features a swimming pool, training hall, and rehabilitation departments. It has been noted that advanced equipment has been imported from abroad and modern methods implemented to prevent injuries and ensure players’ rapid recovery’’, the report stated.

According to the report, the delegation also familiarized themselves with the activities of the Football specialists training and research center, the VAR system, the National teams preparation center, and the Republican football academy.

Gianni Infantino met with members of the Uzbekistan national team and congratulated them on qualifying for the World Cup.

’’First of all, I congratulate you on this historic achievement. This success reflects the attention given to sports and football in your country. It is the result of the long and honorable path your football has traveled. Ahead of you lies a prestigious task: to represent your country with dignity at the World Cup. You are bringing joy to millions of fans. I am confident that the world will once again witness the potential of Uzbekistan football at the World Cup’’, Infantino said.

During the visit, the FIFA delegation highly praised the center’s infrastructure, noting that it provides excellent conditions for Uzbekistan’s national teams to thoroughly prepare for international competitions.

It is worth noting that earlier, FIFA President Gianni Infantino reportedly arrived in Uzbekistan. He is expected to watch the match between the Uzbekistan and Iran national teams in the final of the CAFA Nations Cup directly from the stadium today, September 8. The game is scheduled to kick off at 19:30 at the ’’Olimpiya’’ stadium.
