Alisher Ganiev, Uzbekistan’s first U-23 world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, has been awarded a new home in Fergana. The regional administration’s press service confirmed the news.
According to the report, Fergana regional governor Khairullo Bozorov personally handed over the keys to 23-year-old Ganiev, recognizing his historic achievement on the global stage.
The apartment is located in the Eco-city, a part of the "New Uzbekistan" massif in Fergana.
In October 2024, Alisher Ganiev competed in the U-23 World Wrestling Championships held in Tirana, Albania, in the -60 kg weight category. He clinched the gold medal, becoming Uzbekistan’s first-ever U-23 world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling.
This is not the first time a regional administration has honored an athlete for their accomplishments. Previously, the Samarkand regional administration awarded MMA fighter Mavlud Tifiev a three-room apartment in recognition of his achievements.
Uzbekistan continues to support its sporting champions, rewarding them for bringing national pride on the international stage.
