Iran's response to the events in Karakalpakstan is revealed

The Islamic Republic of Iran fully supports the efforts of the leadership of Uzbekistan to ensure peace, tranquility, and inter-ethnic harmony in the country.  Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, announced this in an interview with (Acting) Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov.

It is said that the telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of the two countries took place today 5 July.

“Hossein Amir-Abdollahian confirmed that the Iranian side fully supports the efforts of the Uzbek leadership to ensure peace, tranquility, and inter-ethnic harmony in the country.

The Iranian Foreign Minister was briefed in detail on the current situation in Karakalpakstan, measures to prevent destabilization of the situation, measures to strengthen public order in the region, content, and main directions of the constitutional reform in Uzbekistan. " - the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

During the dialogue, topical issues of expanding Uzbekistan-Iran multidimensional relations, primarily relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, were discussed.

The views were exchanged on various aspects of the forthcoming events.

The heads of the offices of foreign policy congratulated each other on the upcoming Kurban Hayit (Eid al-Adha) and wished the well-being and prosperity of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Iran.
