The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accompanied by his wife, Emine Erdogan, arrived in Tashkent to participate in the upcoming summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization to be held in Uzbekistan. Erdogan and his wife were welcomed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, and other officials at the Tashkent International Airport, named after Islam Karimov. After a brief conversation, the high-ranking guest proceeded to his residence.


For your information, on November 8-9, the sixteenth summit of the ECO will take place in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Heads of state and government from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey will participate in the event.


In accordance with the agenda, issues related to the further expansion of trade, economic, investment, transport, communication, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the improvement of the activities of this multilateral structure, will be discussed within the framework of the ECO. As part of the summit program, the leader of Uzbekistan will hold several bilateral meetings.


The Economic Cooperation Organization was founded in 1985, with its permanent secretariat located in Tehran. The Republic of Uzbekistan has been a member of the ECO since 1992. The last summit of this organization was held in Turkmenistan in November 2021.


It is worth mentioning that earlier, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadir Japarov, arrived in Tashkent, accompanied by his wife, Aygul Japarova. Up to this point, the head of the interim government of Pakistan, Anwar ul-Haq Kakar, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, also came to Uzbekistan to participate in the ECO summit.
