The Aeroflot airline company of the Russian Federation has tested a new service allowing the transportation of pets in the passenger seat of the aircraft cabin. The company announced this on its official pages.

This new service will initially be available on a trial basis during the company's private flights until March 20, 2024. A decision regarding its permanent extension will be made thereafter.

The maximum weight allowed for the container, including pets, is 15 kg. Customers will be charged for an additional seat reserved for animals at the same rate as a regular passenger. This service is applicable across economy, comfort, and business class seats.

Animals are placed within containers that occupy seats. Each passenger is permitted to carry one container.

In other news, Italy previously considered a bill to enhance the treatment of domestic animals. Under this bill, dogs would have the right to accompany family members to church and other public institutions. Retired police dogs would receive lifetime pensions. Additionally, the proposed law prohibits the separation of pets from their owners in the event of the owner's death; instead, relatives would be responsible for caring for the animals.
