Blinken's Deputy for Human Rights visits Uzbekistan

4242US Deputy Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Uzra Zeya, is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from May 19-23, as announced by the US State Department.
The trip aims to address issues related to democratic governance, the rule of law, human rights, social protection, and religious freedom.
In Tashkent, Uzra Zeya will attend a scientific conference on the constitutional criminal process organized by "Regional Dialogue." She will deliver a speech advocating for constitutional reforms that promote human rights and equal access to justice in Uzbekistan.
During her visit, the Deputy Secretary of State will meet with high-ranking officials, civil society representatives, and human rights defenders to discuss gender equality, combating violence, supporting religious freedom, and protecting vulnerable populations.
Earlier this year, a delegation led by US Senator Stephen Danes and House of Representatives Committee Chairman Mike Rogers visited Tashkent and met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Additionally, Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in March 2023.
