Bahodir Jalolov becomes a two-time Olympic champion

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics are just around the corner. During the boxing events in France, Bahodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan competed in the +92 kg weight class, facing Ayyub Gadfa, who represented Spain. Jalolov emerged victorious in the final match with a decisive performance. Having been the champion at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Jalolov secured another gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

On his way to the final, the 30-year-old Jalolov defeated opponents from Norway, Australia, and Germany.

With Jalolov's victory, the total number of medals won by the Uzbek delegation at the tournament reached 13, including 8 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

Earlier, boxers Hasanboy Dusmatov (-51 kg), Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev (-71 kg), Lazizbek Mullojonov (92 kg), Abdumalik Khalokov (-57 kg), taekwondo athlete Ulugbek Rashidov (-68 kg), and judoka Diyora Keldiyorova (52 kg), along with Razambek Jamalov (-74 kg), a native of Dagestan who competed for Uzbekistan in freestyle wrestling, all claimed Olympic championships.

It should be noted that Bahodir Jalolov plans to transition from amateur boxing to focus on a professional career after the Paris Olympics. Jalolov has participated in 14 professional boxing matches, winning all of them by early stoppage. His most recent about took place on November 17, 2023, against Chris Thompson from South Africa, where he knocked out his opponent in the first round.
