Court proceedings for Aziz Voitov will be closed

4918The trial of former Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov and 49 other individuals will be conducted behind closed doors. This was reported by a QALAMPIR.UZ journalist from the courtroom.
Gofur Mahkamov, a representative of the Agency for the Provision of Services in Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, filed a petition requesting a closed session. Mirabad District Judge for Criminal Cases Sardor Sodikov granted the request.
It is noteworthy that, according to Presidential Decree No. PF-6247 of June 16, 2021, court sessions related to violations involving the professional activities of civil servants are to be broadcast live via TV channels and the Internet. Based on this decree, the Anti-Corruption Agency had recommended conducting the court session openly for the public.
For context, the indictment charges the defendants with crimes under Articles 167, 168, 184, 185-2, 189, 205, 206, 28, 209, 211, 228, and 243 of the Criminal Code.
Precautionary measures have been applied as follows: "arrest" to 29 defendants, "bail" to 15, and "receipt of good behavior" to 6.
Additionally, the Tashkent City Courts previously announced that the use of working weapons by journalists in the case involving Aziz Voitov and the 49 others requires permission from the presiding judge.
