Regions with the highest crime rates in Uzbekistan

In 2024, a total of 61,481 criminal cases were considered in the courts of Uzbekistan, with the highest number of cases recorded in Tashkent city. This was reported by the Supreme Court.

It was noted that Tashkent city had the most criminal cases in the courts of first instance, totaling 9,886. Additionally, the highest number of convicted individuals were also in the capital, with 12,038 people convicted. Tashkent region followed closely behind, with 10,238 people convicted, significantly higher than other regions.

In 2024, the total number of people convicted in criminal courts reached a record 77,995 individuals, the highest in the past five years. The level of social danger of the crimes varied: 31,212 people (40 percent) committed crimes considered to have low social danger, while 19,688 people (25 percent) committed less serious offenses. Serious crimes were committed by 22,951 people (29 percent), and 4,144 individuals (5 percent) committed extremely serious crimes.

Among the convicted, 402 people were found guilty of intentional murder, 2,780 committed serious or moderate bodily harm, 272 were convicted of indecent assault, 336 for assault, and 833 for robbery. The most frequent crimes included:

- Robbery by embezzlement or theft (Article 167 of the Criminal Code) - 6,042 people
- Theft - 8,321 people
- Violations of traffic safety rules - 3,221 people
- Crimes related to drug addiction - 8,373 people
- Hooliganism - 3,223 people

In 2024, a total of 20,655 people were sentenced to imprisonment, marking the highest number in the past five years. This is a significant increase from previous years: 7,107 in 2020, 12,922 in 2021, 17,610 in 2022, and 17,391 in 2023.

The largest number of people sentenced to imprisonment was in Tashkent city, with 3,890 individuals. Other regions with high incarceration rates included Tashkent (2,455 people) and Fergana (2,311 people). The lowest incarceration rate was observed in Karakalpakstan, with 577 people sentenced.

Finally, 723 people were acquitted by the courts in 2024, marking the lowest acquittal rate in the past seven years.
