Man sentenced to 7 days for setting off fireworks on car roof (video)

A 21-year-old man who climbed onto the roof of a moving car and set off fireworks in the Yukorichirchik district of Tashkent region has been sentenced to seven days in prison, the Traffic Safety Service reported.

According to the report, the man, born in 2004, risked his life by standing on top of a moving vehicle and using pyrotechnics on a highway in the Yukorichirchik district. The reckless act caused discontent among other road users.

Following an urgent investigation, the Tashkent Regional Traffic Safety Service identified both the driver and the passenger involved.

“On August 3, when we were returning from the mountains, I climbed onto the car and set off fireworks. I realized it was wrong, and the traffic safety service officers also explained it to me. We regret our actions and will not repeat them,” the offender said.

Administrative reports were filed against the driver under Article 128¹⁰ (traffic hooliganism) of the Code of Administrative Responsibility for endangering a passenger’s life, and against the passenger under Article 183 (petty hooliganism) and Article 185¹ (illegal handling of pyrotechnics) for willful disregard of public conduct rules, violating traffic laws, and unlawful use of fireworks. The case was forwarded to the Yukorichirchik District Court for Criminal Cases.

By court decision, the passenger was found guilty under Articles 183 and 185¹ and sentenced to seven days of administrative detention. The driver was found guilty under Article 128¹⁰, deprived of the right to drive for one year, and fined 25 times the basic calculation amount.

Earlier, a driver who attached a protective film to his car’s hood, filled it with water, and placed live fish inside was fined three times the basic calculation amount—1 million 125 thousand soums.
