In Andijan, a school director has been disciplined after students were made to carry desks, according to a report from the Regional Preschool and School Education Department.

The incident occurred at the 37th general education school in the "Islamabad" neighborhood of Andijan city, a school built in 1963 with a capacity for 960 students, although 1,728 are currently enrolled. The school employs 102 teachers.

The school recently received 1.36 billion UZS as part of the "Initiative Budget" project for construction and repair works, which are currently underway.

On September 14, around 1:00 p.m., H.H., the head of Pre-draft Training, instructed a group of 7th-grade students to carry desks as part of efforts to remove old equipment in preparation for technology and military-patriotic activities.

Following an investigation, disciplinary action was taken against the school director, N.D., for negligence.

It is important to note that since February 12, 2021, the involvement of minors in forced labor has been a criminal offense in Uzbekistan.

Earlier, a similar case in Namangan resulted in a fine for a school director who forced teachers to pluck grass.
