7316Governor of Andijan region, Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov, expressed sharp dissatisfaction with the performance of his deputies responsible for investment matters, stating that they are not earning their salaries in a “halal” (honest) manner. He made this statement on April 22 during a meeting with entrepreneurs in the city of Babur, who are struggling to launch their businesses due to various obstacles.
“It’s been three years since you were appointed as deputy governor for investment. What have you achieved in that time? Nothing. Yet you continue to receive a monthly salary. All the conditions for your work have been provided. You have food in front of you, and you don’t even need to look behind. You are free to travel to any country at the state’s expense, but only if there are actual results. These trips should benefit the nation and society,” Abdurakhmanov stated.
He further remarked that some young men who spent 10–15 years in China have served as his representatives, achieving tangible results, while in Andijan, there are officials who receive salaries without contributing “a single sum of benefit” to society.
“There are those who occupy positions but do not even earn their salaries honestly. That’s why I’ve given them a 10-day ultimatum,” the governor emphasized.
During the meeting, Abdurakhmanov also issued a public call to ambitious youth, educated citizens, and those from Andijan who have studied or worked abroad. He announced a competition for the positions of deputy governors in all cities and districts of the region—specifically for those responsible for investment.
“I welcome applicants who are educated, fluent in foreign languages, have at least basic diplomatic skills, and are capable of attracting investors and bringing investment to Andijan. Please apply—I’m ready to cooperate,” Abdurakhmanov said.
