Man was arrested for accepting $230,000 to formalize land for cottage development in Andijan

4041In Tashkent, Andijan, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm regions, several individuals were apprehended for accepting bribes related to land allocations, according to a report by the State Security Service.
In the Tashkent region, officers detained a lawyer from a law firm in the Chinoz district, who conspired with his sister to lease a farm property, previously granted for fishing in 2016 under a 49-year lease, to a buyer using falsified documents. The lawyer secured an ownership transfer of 9.72 hectares to the buyer with assistance from his contacts in government agencies. He was caught while accepting $35,000 in payment.
In Andijan, the head of an LLC, previously convicted multiple times, colluded with an entrepreneur to alter the classification of a 1-hectare plot originally allocated for greenhouse facilities in 2020. The land was intended for 30 cottage-style homes, for which the suspects demanded $230,000. They were arrested while receiving an advance payment of $30,000.
In Surkhandarya, a livestock farmer in Zharkurgan district registered 11 hectares of land in the buyer's name, demanding 430 million soums and accepting $23,600 and 100 million soums upfront. He was apprehended with the evidence.
In Khorezm, two citizens from Urgench city, born in 1969 and 1980, attempted to secure 5 hectares of reserve land in Urgench district for an entrepreneur wishing to establish a service branch. They were arrested while collecting 350 million soums and an additional 300 million soums in advance.
Criminal cases have been opened against all individuals involved, and investigations are ongoing.
