The news about the dismissal of the mayor of Andijan is not true – Uzbekistan News Agency

The news that the governor of Andijan region Shuhrat Abdurahmanov was fired was refuted.  This was reported by the Information Agency of Uzbekistan.

“The news that the governor of Andijan region Shuhratbek Koshoqboyevich Abdurahmanov has been removed from his position is not true,” reports the Uzbekistan News Agency.

Today, 14 April, it was reported that Dilshodbek Abdumalikovich Karimov, the first deputy governor of the region, the head of the department of economic development and poverty reduction, was appointed as the acting governor of Andijan region.

Two days ago, a video depicting the illegal actions of a person who looks like Shuhratbek Abdurahmanov was spread on social networks.  Part of the video is blurred, but the governor’s face is visible at the end.

According to the press service of Andijan regional hokimity, today, 14 April, regional hokim Shuhratbek Abdurahmanov got acquainted with the progress of the works being carried out in the industrial zone of 55 hectares in the Dostlik massif of Pakhtaabad district.  Also, the governor gave orders and instructions to complete the construction works within the specified time, focusing on the speed and quality of work in the zone.
