Drug smugglers from Kyrgyzstan caught in Andijan, Fergana, and Tashkent

Authorities have intercepted the illegal trade of nearly 14,000 psychotropic and strong-acting drugs in Andijan, Fergana, and Tashkent, UzA reports.

During an operation in Andijan’s Altinkul district, a 54-year-old previously convicted man, D.J., was found with 1,037 “Tropicamide” and 224 “Regapen” drugs while traveling in a Nexia car. A search of his apartment revealed an additional 1,778 “Regapen” and 500 “Sonnat” tablets. The drugs, smuggled from Kyrgyzstan, were seized.

In Fergana, a 49-year-old driver was stopped after entering through the “Rishton” border post. A search of his Nexia led to the confiscation of 3,527 units of “Zardex.”

In Kokand, a 36-year-old man, U.Kh., was found with 3,360 units of “Regapen” and 1,359 units of “Tropicamide” in his vehicle. Investigations revealed the drugs also originated from Kyrgyzstan.

A separate operation in Tashkent uncovered 2,153 products containing “Sibutramine” stored at the “Urikzor Trading Complex.” The 27-year-old suspect, V.J., had no customs or quality documentation for the drugs, which were intended for sale.

Criminal cases have been initiated against all involved, and investigations are ongoing.
